Birth Day

Today is the birth day Ashley is in labour and has been since quarter to three am, i am a mixture of excitement and apprehension she almost died whilst having Lewis i just hope and pray that this labour will be different by going as smoothly as possible, Rodney has gone to work at 5.30am and just called back to see how she was anyway she wants to hang on and let Stuart take Lewis to school try and make it as normal as possible for him, anyway will check in later as shes just rang to say they want to leave SOON baby may be making an appearance sooner than we think.
Well i went round to Ashley's and hung around while she did her hair LoL then we set off the the hospital we arrived at there around nine am she was taken straight to the labour ward she managed without pain relief till around 7.30pm it was a long labour and she was getting really tired, the midwife checked her and said she was 7cm dilated now she got to 7cm with Lewis then had to go for emergency c-section because the baby was getting tired, with this baby she wanted to have a natural birth so after the midwife got the doctor in to examine her the doctor said to Ashley you have two choices now your baby is what they call back to back (its the way her pelvis is) we can put you on a drip and see how you get along with that for at the most two hours if after an hour we examine you and you are still 7cm we have to think seriously about putting in an epidural in case you have to got to theater, so an hour went by and the doctor came to examine her and was thrilled with her findings she had gone to 8.5cm so that meant she only had another 1.5cm to go after another hour so she persevered..... she was then ready to push the baby out she did wonderfully well and i am so proud of her because at 28 minutes past 8pm baby Lucas Stuart was born he weighed 7lb 8oz and is absolutely perfect, I have to say the midwife that was looking after Ashley was brilliant i couldn't fault her on anything at all she helped Ashley and everything she did for her she explained what and why she was doing it,
I have complained about the health service in this borough before but this midwife more than made up for the shortcomings of the others, so thank you very much for looking after my daughter and the welfare of my precious third grandson.

Awesome Jayne! It sounds like it went wonderfully well. I am glad she had a fairly quick labour w/o much trouble. Tell her congrats to new family member.
